Size Does Matter. Choose the appropriate size for the room you wish to install it. Do not place a large chandelier in a tiny room. It will definitely overcome it, making the room much, much smaller. You can have more layers with higher ceilings as opposed to low ones.
For bedroom, bathroom, living room, hall or entrance, take the measurement of your room and add them to get the appropriate circumference of your chandelier. If your room is 15 ft by 12 ft, then your circumference should be 27 inches. If the ceiling is high, you can add up to 6 in more to its circumference. For its height, it should be hung at least 7 ft from the floor is adequate to prevent bump heads.
If you wish to install one in your dining room, choose a chandelier that is half the size of your table. Do not buy or install something that is wider than your dinner table. Also, hung it up at about 30 to 36 inches above the top of your table for good illumination and to avoid bump heads as well.
Lighting requirements are also important. You do not want your guests blinding due to too much light. Be sure to use always the right wattage that your chandelier has recommended. Some chandeliers have dimmers that can enable you to adjust lighting depending on the amount of light you require.
Maintain your chandelier. It is not necessary that you clean it everyday. It is not practical also, getting into the ladders to clean it. It may be also a cause of accidents. It is sufficient that you clean it once or twice a year to keep it shiny and look new. When cleaning, make sure you have turned off the lights to prevent accidents.
